Pears Challenge FAQs
When does the program run?
The ideation program and the acceleration program both take place in Tel Aviv Thursdays 18:00-21:00 and Fridays 9:30-12:30.
Fellows are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of the sessions.
The Ideation program runs from March 1 to April 12.
The Acceleration program will run from May 3 to June 28.
The field trips for initial validation will then take place in Fall 2019.
The Pears Challenge is a staged program, at the end of the ideation stage, fellows who wish to continue to the acceleration phase will be selected on the basis of a submitted statement of purpose. At the end of the acceleration phase, fellows will have to submit a validation plan to be accepted to the field trip.
Can I still work while participating in the Pears Challenge? How intensive is the program?
The Pears Challenge is a staged program where increasing levels of time commitment are expected as fellows pass from ideation, to acceleration, to field validation and beyond to startup formation. In the ideation phase, fellows are expected to attend sessions and work up to 1-2 hours a week on assignment preparation. After the ideation phase, the program becomes more intensive, as fellows develop their venture ideas and build their field validation plans. Those fellows who choose to progress to acceleration and validation of their ideas will be expected to devote increasing amounts of time to working on their venture. In general, by the end of the acceleration and validation program, fellows will have scaled back their work schedules in order to devote the time necessary to make it possible for their startups to succeed.
Is there a program fee associated with Pears Challenge?
Participation in the ideation lab costs 500 NIS for all sessions and events.
Does the Pears Challenge take any equity in my venture?
No. All of the support, mentorship, connections, and advising you receive as a fellow will be given without any strings and without expectation of any equity.
